What is the opposite of WTF? Opposite. Opposite is located opposite of WTF and is the opposite of lame. Riddle me that sucka! Our head hurts.
Speaking of suckas, do you know where you can find them? WTF. Don’t believe us, just check out what some website called KohSpot said about the WTF. KohSpot never lies, unless we are in court or on drugs, which is daily.
Anyways, two of the owners of WTF got it right with their second venture, Opposite. Opposite is an artsy fartsy space that has done an excellent job attracting, promoting and hosting art exhibits, DJs, picnics, indie bands and fun fundraisers. They are also very proud that they have “top line Electrolux stove and oven”, which is downright adorable or simply a plug for a paying sponsor. Cross-marketing really works! Did you see how we just published “Electrolux”. Whoops, did it again.
We attended the fundraising and book pre-launch party of “Human Negotiations”. A work in progress photo and mutli-media project by Katharina Hesse & Lara Day that drew an intimate crowd in a space that promoted mingling and conversing. Pleasant and engaging was the evening and a large part of this was due to the set up of Opposite. Simple, industrial and modern. Little to no seating means that people are standing, dancing, farting, walking and talking more as a collective unit than the people pods at lounges or table teams at clubs. It was at this event that we got excited about Opposite’s upcoming events. It is important to keep in mind that Opposite is a space that is constantly shifting, rotating and morphing into something new so please don’t show up here on a Friday night in club clothes expecting to hear Thaitanium.
The bar at Opposite offers up a few original cocktails, but mostly serves the standard Heineken, Singha, Leo and a few red wines. Nothing epic.
Time to celebrate Bangkok becoming more creative. A big fat Hipster thumbs up for Opposite.
