Kiosk @ Creative Space

Want to enjoy the hip and artistic vibe of the TCDC Resource Center at Emporium Mall without paying to go inside?

Then Kiosk is the place for you – a neighboring cafe and bistro sharing the portion of the TCDC that’s open to the public.

Kiosk BangkokKiosk lovingly dons open-network wifi (with food purchase), a great view of the Benjasiri Park, dark wood furnishings, chalk-board menus, tasty sandwiches, salads and breakfast items, vaulted ceilings, huge windows and a subdued, albeit sophisticated cafe culture on the 6th Floor of Emporium Mall. We love it. In fact, more than a few of these KohSpot articles have been written under their rooftop at the counter-bar.

Kiosk definitely attracts the Bangkok hipster. Chuck T kicks, tight purple pants, yellow v-neck sweaters and a MacBook Air seems to be the compulsory uniform at Kiosk. It also seems to attract the Bangkok polyglots which helps design an even more sophisticated feel to the cafe with tongues being spoken from around the globe.

But what makes Kiosk different than most cafes is the food. Oh, the food.

Typically we go to cafes for the coffee with the menu items as a side-note. Not at Kiosk. The quality of food here is simply fantastic. They serve up an amazing eggs benedict with smoked salmon (190 baht) that boasts a delicious hollandaise sauce that gingerly coats your mouth and has a tangy aftertaste.

The squashed figs, parma ham sarnie with rosemary fig confit and parmesan cheese (250baht) is another dish not easily found in Bangkok, and it mixes the sweetness of the fruit well with the saltiness of the ham and cheese. The French toast with grilled peaches (180 baht) combines another old favorite with a fruit that is unusual to find served in Thailand, even if it is canned.

Kiosk’s Euro bent is most evident in dishes like poached pear with balsamic reduction and mascarpone cheese (110 baht), another winner at meshes sensations.

Live music, often jazz, is on display on the weekends, and short films also make their way into the lineup intermittently.

Check it out, and if you’re like us, you might just become a “regular” at Kiosk.
