Very few cafes or restaurants have that “wow” factor when stepping through the doors. Audrey cafe is one of those places. As soon as you walk into Audrey cafe you will notice that no detail in atmosphere and deception was spared. Inspired by the late and great Audrey Hepburn the Audrey Cafe and Bistro is grand in size and classy in presentation. Angled ceilings, skylights, inviting windows and french doors all add to a light and airy feeling while the cast iron chandeliers and Victorian furniture takes the restaurant turn down the stately direction. Waiters don white ruffled shirts while the female baristas are more or less wearing conservative french maid outfits. The open kitchen allows all sorts of aromas to leak into the dining area, which is much more pleasant than it sounds.
The menu is vast and includes smoothies, herbal drinks, soups, salads, pastas, stir fried dishes, curry, thai mainstays, etc. While the food may not be the most inspiring Audrey Cafe and Bistro does things right. The recommended dish has to be the “Home Made Cheese Burger” (220baht). For the price of a Burger King Whopper you can have a high-quality, scrumptious, grilled to-perfection cheeseburger with hand cut fries and a side salad. No joke, this is one of the best burgers we have had in Thailand with the 1 inch thick patty smouthered in spices, oozing swiss cheese, fresh tomatoes and a ‘secret sauce’ all served on a toasted bun. Yummy. The smoothies have cool names like “Potassium Power” (Banana, Pineapple) and “Monkey Party” (Banana and Mango with Honey and Yogurt) running from 85 to 95 baht, but fail to really deliver the freshness nor portion size we hope for at these prices. The only thing we would like to see on the menu is more brunch friendly options as we have a feeling Audrey Cafe and Bistro could whip up some mean hang over cures.
Service is impeccable. Fast, professional and informative and gauging by the porches and mercedes parked out front an essential aspect to keeping the worries of the hi-so crowd at bay. The crowd is mostly people who own an Ipad but don’t know why.
The only way we would like this place more is if we actually liked Audrey Hepburn movies. Visit this place before it becomes too popular.
